Every child deserves access to a quality education, regardless of their background or zip code. While supporting public education, we also recognize the importance of providing families with options that best suit their children's needs.
I was sparked into action for our public schools three years ago, after an interaction with a community member who was interested in circulating false narratives about public schools that are also being systematically spread across our nation. Our children should be able to go to school every day to receive the very best education to help them grow into successful adults. They should not be the test subjects for experiments by political ideologues, and our teachers should not be caught in the middle of mis/disinformation campaigns from political extremists. I will work to remove this false and ugly cultural bigotry from our public schools.
I will continue to defend our public schools, teachers, administration and most importantly, students. We need to stop the false culture war that has been started by many in politics to score points within the media and fire up a base that is uninterested in putting the work into showing up. As a parent, I volunteer at my children's school on a regular basis and take on leadership roles. We need to encourage parents to be involved in the schools.
