Democracy is the core principle the United States is built upon. Without a strong democracy, we no longer have the United States. As we have seen, our democracy is not guaranteed. It is fragile and must be protected and not taken for granted.
No issue is of more importance to my candidacy than retaining our democracy.
We have candidates for government and leaders currently serving in government that are making a mockery of our democracy. They believe that gaining and retaining power within the government is more important than defending that with which they swore an oath to do.
I wholeheartedly believe in the fundamental principles outlined in the Constitution of the United States. Having taken an oath to protect and defend these principles during my time in the US Navy, I understand the gravity of our duty to uphold the values of democracy and justice. Despite America's troubled past, we must acknowledge our history and strive to learn from it, using our democratic institutions as vehicles for progress and reconciliation. Our commitment to defending the Constitution ensures that we continue to build a more equitable and just society, where every individual's rights and freedoms are respected and protected.
As a State Representative, I will pledge an oath to support, uphold, and defend our constitution just as I swore an oath to the same when joining the US Navy. Our nation thrives when we uphold the principles of democracy and respect the Constitution. It is through the strength of our democracy that we can overcome challenges, address injustices, and move forward together as a nation.
