Our children should be able to go to school every day to receive the very best education to help them grow into successful adults. They should not be the test subjects for experiments by political ideologues, and our teachers should not be caught in the middle of mis/disinformation campaigns from political extremists. I will work to remove this false and ugly cultural bigotry from our public schools.
I started fighting for our public education system 3 years ago when I was approached in a parking lot of a local grocery store by a woman with a petition. She asked that I sign the petition to "make our schools more conservative" . Interested, I asked her to please define what she meant by conservative. I was hoping she would explain it as in budgeting and fiscal responsibility. It was not. Rather about fiscal responsibility, she was more concerned about false narratives being systematically spread across our nation. This very interaction is what spurred me into action for my children and community.
I will continue to defend our public schools, teachers, administration and most importantly, students. We need to stop the false culture war that has been started by many in politics to score points within the media and fire up a base that is uninterested in putting the work into showing up. We need to encourage parents to be involved in the schools.
